DESCRIPTION:In this introductory knit garment sewing class\, you’ll begin discovering how to use your serger’s stitches and features to create a cozy crew neck sweatshirt. From serger basics to knit sewing techniques and assembling the garment\, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the process. \nThroughout the course\, students will learn fundamental serger information\, including how to choose and apply the appropriate serger stitch to different parts of the project\, select needles and thread for different knit fabric types\, and sew basic and curved seams with industry standard knit seam allowances. We’ll also cover essential knit garment construction methods such as cutting knit fabric pieces accurately with regards to direction of stretch\, sewing “stretch-to-fit” pieces\, sewing in the round\, and even sewing without pins (GASP)! \nBy the end of the class\, students will leave with a completed and ready-to-wear crew neck sweatshirt and the confidence to dive into more complex knit sewing endeavors! \nNo Coverstitch is required in this Level 1 class\, so “Overlock only” and “Overlock/Coverstitch combo” machines are all welcome! Please be sure that you have already taken Meissner’s “School of Serging” class or are competent with the basic threading and operation of your machine\, as this is a project-based class. \nFEES$100 for 2 sessionsIncludes pattern.
